After 12 years of exemplary service with the British armed forces, Chris left in 2008 to pursue a civilian career, converting his Royal Signals electrical training into ‘Approved Electrician Status’ and embarked on a new career as a Solar PV installer.
Chris set up Energi North East Ltd., a Solar PV installation, repair and monitoring company in 2016. Since this time, Energi North East Ltd. has developed into a reputable and reliable business serving the North East of England and beyond.
Building on his qualified electrician status, Chris gained his microgeneration certification scheme (MCS) registration in 2016. His hard work and attention to detail alongside his commercial acumen and his calm and friendly manner, he has steered his business from a small domestic Solar PV installer to one that regularly designs and delivers clean energy solutions to large commercial organisations.
Chris is supported by a small team who work to the high standards that he expects of them. A mixture of experience and youth, Chris is continually working to develop each of his team’s talents further to inspire and support them to become future leaders in the clean energy sector.
Passionate about helping people to transition to clean energy and reduce their carbon footprint and, as a father to a young child, Chris is even more motivated to lead his company to bring about a better future for the next generation. Since its formation, Energi North East has installed over 10 mw of solar panels. Chris is proud to be part of the drive to reduce emissions and play his part in the uk’s transition to clean energy.
A senior member of the Energi North-East team, Andy brings a wealth of experience as a qualified and JIB approved electrician. He prides himself on doing a job well with his ‘right first time’ attitude. Andy is a PV specialist (with specific expertise in SMA and Solar Edge technologies) and is a great support to his younger colleagues.

Meet Jay - Growing with Energi North East
Jay became part of the Energi North East family in 2022, bringing with him four years of solid electrical experience from the construction industry. Now a qualified electrician, he’s focused on reaching the next milestone: Approved Electrician Status.
In his first year, Jay’s dedication and skill saw him progress from assisting with Solar PV installations to leading larger commercial projects. Quietly confident and hardworking, he’s driven to expand both his electrical expertise and knowledge of the Solar PV sector.
⚽ Outside of work, Jay is an avid Liverpool FC fan who unwinds by playing football and cheering on his favourite team.
Meet Jason - Our Rising Star
As the newest and youngest member of the Energi North East team, Jason brings enthusiasm and a strong desire to learn. With his recently earned Level 4 electrical qualification, he’s already proving himself by actively contributing to projects and expanding his practical experience alongside our seasoned professionals.
Jason is currently working towards achieving Approved Electrician Status and has a keen interest in the Solar PV sector—showing real promise as he deepens his technical knowledge. Outside of work, he enjoys winding down with quality time spent with his family.
